Wisconsin Medical Malpractice Trial Awards Largest Sum in County History

by Administrator 30. April 2009 04:31

The family of a young girl has received the largest medical malpractice sum in the history of Dane County where the trial took place. The $17.3 million award came as a result of a botched spleen surgery.

The surgery went wrong and the doctor severed several major blood vessels and the girl's bowel. She was left permanently brain damaged as a result. The damage is irreversible.

Doctor Cleared in Georgia Malpractice Suit

by Administrator 23. April 2009 05:54

A trial took place last week in Georgia for a medical malpractice lawsuit. A patient was left parapalegic after a 2005 brain surgery for an ongoing medical condition. Unfortunately, the doctor did not properly diagnose the problem.

The spinal disorder that the patient had was very rare and difficult to diagnose. Because of this, the jury in the trial decided that the doctor was not negligent in his actions. He was cleared of the malpractice charges.

Hospitals in Connecticut have recently hired many more residents and interns to cut costs. Unfortunately, these residents and interns end up working 80 hours per week and practicing medicine while physically and mentally exhausted. Conditions like these are common across the nation, and often lead to malpractice.
