by Administrator 30. June 2009 02:51

In Pennsylvania, a VA hosptial has treated over a hundred veterans for prostate cancer. Of those, over 90 have had their procedures incorrectly performed by the doctor.

In many cases, the doctor irradiated healthy organs while missing the prostate, allowing the cancer to progress and harming healthy organs. The doctor never informed his patients when he botched their procedures.

Failure to Inform

by Administrator 25. June 2009 03:17

Recent research has found that over 7% of clinically significant test results have not been reported to patients. The researchers looked at 5,434 records at 19 primary care practices and 4 academic medical centers for the study.

In their research they found 1,889 abnormal results, 135 of which were never received by the patients. They also found that 23% of abnormal results did not get to patients in two of the larger academic medical centers. Without knowledge of these abnormal results, patients can be put in terrible danger.
