Are there caps to Washington medical malpractice damages?

by Administrator 26. March 2010 06:18

Assuming the damages are punitive damages, medical malpractice damages do not have caps. While certain states have passed laws capping damages, the Supreme Court of Washington ruled such caps unconstitutional.

The reason for banning caps is that they implicitely violate a person's right to a jury. For this reason, individuals may receive medical malpractice damages of any amount.

Cosmetic Surgeon Faces Malpractice Suit For Work Performed on 15 year-old

by Administrator 30. December 2009 07:49

A cosmetic surgeon in Moses Lake, Washington is facing a medical malpractice suit for unprofessional conduct after performing breast-reduction surgery and liposuction on a 15 year-old girl. The surgeon is accused of making serious mistakes during the breast surgery and his decision to perform liposuction on a person of that age is also being questioned.

While several physicians have come to the aid of the surgeon, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported in 2005 that the cosmetic surgeon had been sued 10 times in the past and was forced to pay fines in 2001 and 2003 for errors made as a dental practitioner.

If you or someone you love has been injured by an error made by a medical professional, it is important to have an experienced Washington medical malpractice lawyer of Fuller & Fuller at 800-570-4878 today.

The effect of proper sanitation on hospital infections

by Administrator 30. November 2009 05:42

People who undergo surgeries and treatments in hospitals are exposed to the risk of infection. Even in the best hospitals, infections exist and could spread from patient to patient.

As numerous studies have shown, one effective way to reduce the chance of infections spreading is for hospitals to improve their sanitation practices. For instance, if all staff members properly sanitize between patient treatments, then the risk of infection will be significantly reduced.

However, if the hospital's doctors and staff do not practice proper sanitation, then they may increase the chances of infections spreading. When this occurs, patients who are infected because of improper sanitation may be able to sue the employer.

If you or anyone you know has received an infection because of improper hospital sanitation, contact the Washington hospital infection lawyers of Fuller & Fuller at 800-570-4878.
