A 20 year old Ohio woman has been awarded $872,000 after suffering second degree burns while she underwent an operation. The woman was receiving oxygen while under anesthesia for a mole removal operation.
The plastic surgeon who worked on the woman used an electrocautery device which started a fire on the woman's face when it interacted with the oxygen. The doctor then lied to the woman and her parents about the cause of the fire and her injuries.
