The family of a young child and the University of California reached a medical malpractice settlement totaling $6 million. The settlement was reached nearly five years after a 4-year-old boy suffered neurological injuries in birth. 

The settlement amount was determined by factoring in the costs of medical and assitive-care for the chile, as well as any lost future income. The amount marks the largest settlement ever reached by the UC Davis Health System.
